Clare Starbuck
Currently at capacity and unable to take on new clients. We appreciate your understanding.
Clare is a Clinical Psychologist who offers short and longer-term therapy to those wanting to better understand themselves, and work through the difficulties life has brought them. Alongside private practice, Clare works in a tertiary paediatric hospital where she helps children, young people, and families who have experienced a range of health related challenges. Clare’s experience extends across the lifespan, and she welcomes referrals for adults as well.
Clare believes that life shapes us, and therapy helps us understand how. She offers compassionate, evidence-based care and works relationally, drawing on attachment and developmental theory. Where appropriate, Clare also uses Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Mentalisation-Based Therapy (MBT), and Family Systems Therapy to support the individual goals of each client. Clare treats a variety of presenting difficulties, including:
-
Depression and anxiety
-
Parent-child difficulties
-
Trauma, including medical trauma
-
Adjustment to illness and injury
-
Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)
Clare holds a Bachelor of Science (Psychology) and Honours in Psychology from the University of Western Australia, and a Master of Applied Psychology (Clinical) from Murdoch University.
